Adjacent Land Use

At the midpoint for each surveyed section observers classified land use immediately adjacent to the shoreline in the following categories: industrial structure, commercial structure, residential structure, railroad, paved road, path or lot, unpaved road, path or lot, dike or levy, pasture, crops, lawn, golf course, or undeveloped natural area. Since landscape structure occasionally prevents the observers from identifying adjacent land use there is also a category identified as 'not visible.'
